Podium finish for Jenson in Abu Dhabi


Jenson finished his World Championship year on a high with a third-placed podium finish at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday. Rubens came through a first corner impact to drive a composed race to fourth place.

Jenson said: "It was a fun race today and to be on the podium for the last race of the year is fantastic. The last few laps were really exciting and I was giving everything to take second place from Mark. I couldn't quite make the moves stick and he's a very difficult guy to overtake but it was a good clean fight and we were really on the edge. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at the team in Brackley and at Mercedes-Benz High Performance Engines. It really has been a fantastic year and they should all be very proud of what we have achieved together. It's nice to end the year on a high after what has been a very competitive and challenging season."

Rubens was also happy with his race: "The start was quite exciting but unfortunately I collided slightly with Mark and he took a chunk of my front wing with him. It lost me a lot of downforce initially which let Jenson past but I was able to live with the understeer so we decided not to change the nose and I just pushed as hard as possible. It was a competitive race throughout and a lot of fun so I have to be pleased with fourth position . It's truly been a great season and I have to thank the team for giving me a car that has been so competitive this year and the opportunity to return to winning ways again. We've had a great year together."

Day/Night Race in Abu Dhabi!

The final race of the season will be a first for Formula One with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday starting at 17:00hrs for the sport's first day/night race.
Taking place at the Yas Marina Circuit, the spectacular 5.554km track runs alongside Yas Island's new marina and the anti-clockwise circuit has many unique features including a pitlane exit which crosses under the circuit and part of the track passing under the Yas Marina Hotel.
Jenson visited the venue earlier in the year: "It's a fantastic feeling to be going into the final race having achieved my ambition of winning the Drivers' Championship and with the team having wrapped up the Constructors' Championship in Brazil. I had a short break in the Gulf region after Bahrain and went to have a look at the Yas Marina Circuit. Even then with the construction work was still underway, the facilities looked outstanding. It's always fun to try a new race track and I'm sure Abu Dhabi is going to host an exciting weekend."
Rubens is also looking forward to the challenge: "It's always good to race at a new venue and the Yas Marina Circuit looks extremely impressive. The layout of the circuit seems both fun and challenging and it will be quite impressive to start the race in daylight and to finish in evening conditions. The team has had a great season so far and we want to finish on a high with a strong performance this weekend."

Me parece que Barrichelo não foi bem ao final do 1º dia de treinos , ficando atrás de Vettel seu concorrente ao vice-campeonato . Vamos esperar como a BRAWN que seus carros andem bem amanhã e na corrida .

A EQUIPE BRAWN COMEMORA O TITULO .

Rubens Barrichelo .

Barrichello tomou a ponta com determinação , na largada e na relargada .

Para ser campeão Button andou forte , no "S" tomando posição de Kobayashi da Toyota .

No Sábado recebo um e-mail do Jr Lara Campos " ele -RB- andou muito !!!!!!!!!!" verdade , soube aproveitar um bom momento e mandou a bota , perfeito !

Como perfeita também foi sua corrida , na largada se impôs e assumiu a dianteira , na relargada segurou o Webber e acelerou na hora certa para abrir uma boa vantagem na freada do "S" . Estava andando muito rápido e consciente , o Webber talvez com um carro mais rápido o acompanhava . Na décima quarta ou décima quinta volta quando Barrichello foi o primeiro piloto a baixar os 1m14s confesso que me emocionei , era o Barrichello que nós todos gostaríamos de ter visto em seus anos de Ferrari andava forte , rápido se impondo .

Depois foi outra corrida , seu carro teve problemas com o segundo jogo de pneus , ou outro problema qualquer , não interessa .

Grande vitória do Webber que depois do 1º pit não teve ninguém mais a pressiona-lo , gostei de ver o Kubica novamente andando na frente com Hamilton fazendo uma corrida de recuperação . Grande também foi a corrida do campeão , andou em alto estilo , brigando fazendo ultrapassagens . Button é merecidamente campeão , brilhante na primeira fase do campeonato , quando tinha carro para tanto se impôs , depois administrou com vontade sua grande vantagem .
Brincando meu amigo Carlos de Paula já no mês de Março , comentava sobre uma possível vitória de Button/Brawn no campeonato . Sabendo de tudo que ele acompanha e de seu conhecimento , acho que foi o primeiro a ver o potencial da equipe que surgia .
Voltando ao Rubens Barrichello , o que interessa e que vemos um novo piloto , talvez a maturidade tenha trazido a confiança nessessaria . Esperamos que no ano que vem Sir Frank Willians e a Cosworth lhe apresentem um carro a sua altura , e ai com o novo regulamento em vigor com corridas mais disputadas possamos vê-lo Campeão .

RUBENS BARRICHELLO E O CAMPEONATO

Acompanhando o noticiário sobre o futuro de Rubens Barrichello , resolvi escrever algo , não que vá acrescentar nada , mas é uma vontade que tenho desde antes da corrida de Singapura . Desde o final do treino desenhei a corrida , Button saindo mais atrás e de tanque cheio , só podia dar no que deu .
Em seu blog meu amigo Carlos de Paula escreve sobre sua quase certa contratação pela Willians , http://brazilexporters.com/blog/index.php?blog=5&cat=14 , respeito muitíssimo as opiniões de meu amigo , com quem converso horas e troco mil e-mails , sua visão do automobilismo é muito parecida com a minha . Mas no caso Barrichelo vou discordar .
Neste blog desejei a Barrichello uma boa temporada na Brawn , e depois no episódio da ultrapassagem sobre o Nelsinho Piquet , junto com o Fabio Poppi deploramos sua atitude .
Agora vejo Barrichello pilotar de um jeito que nunca tinha visto antes , andando rápido e se impondo , caso tivesse feito isso em sua época de Ferrari seu contrato não teria durado tanto tempo , mas também não teria engolido tantos "sapos" e talvez até tirado um ou dois campeonatos do Alemão . Sabemos que sua contratação pela Ferrari foi imposta pela montadora Italiana que controla a Equipe e tem no Brasil sua grande fonte de lucros , e sempre achei que ele deveria ter tido uma atitude mais aguerrida , como disse antes não teria que engolir tantos "sapos".
Agora o vejo quase brigando pelo titulo , andando forte e rápido , é claro que a Brawn vai priorizar o Button - um grande piloto - com contrato já definido para o ano que vem , a escolha da equipe desde o começo do ano . Mas como dizia Fangio " carreras son carreras " uma corrida se decide só na bandeirada e um campeonato só no final .
Quanto ao ano que vem Campeão ou não tenho certeza que ele vai estar fazendo o que gosta , pois é muito difícil para um piloto ouvir o rugido dos motores e estar fora do cokpit . Sem nenhuma comparação com o Grande Grahan Hill bi Campeão do Mundo de F I , lembro dele andando com aquelas pernas tortas depois de seu grave acidente e de sua satisfação por ainda estar pilotando .
Boca fechada e pé no fundo Barrichello , pode ter certeza que muita gente que antes não te admirava vai estar torcendo por você .
